FOREST GROVE, Ore. –
Cara Griffith turned in another solid effort as
she won both her doubles match and her No. 4 singles match, but
most of her George Fox University teammates were not as fortunate
as the Pacific University Boxers downed the Bruins 6-3 in Northwest
Conference women's tennis action Saturday here at the Holce
Tennis Courts.
Griffith and Alyssa Emoto edged Kelsey Trujillo and Lillian Do
9-7 at No. 2 doubles, but Pacific made off with the other two
doubles. Cathlene Goya and Megan Yoshimoto won at No. 1 8-5
over Molly Beaumont and Shaina Inn, and Rachel Mizuno and Amber
Craviotto downed Bethany Nguyen and Alissandra Wittrig 8-1 at No.
3.
Griffith won her singles match over Do 6-0, 2-6, 6-1, and Inn
beat Mizuno by a similar 6-0, 2-6, 6-1 score at No. 3, but that was
all the Bruins could muster. Goya topped Beaumont 6-3, 6-3 at
No. 1, Yoshimoto eased past Emoto 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2, Trujillo took
down Chantelle Hadeed 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5, and Craviotto knocked off
Nguyen 6-4, 6-1 at No. 6.

Orlando, Fla., next week during the school's spring break for
five matches, starting with two on Thursday vs. Hamline College and
Elmhurst University ... Pacific (6-4, NWC 5-4) will also be in
Orlando, taking on Grinnell College first on Friday.
