NEWBERG, Ore. - With the doubles completed and
George Fox University ahead 2-1, rain washed out all of the singles
early in the first sets and forced a postponement of the Northwest
Conference women's tennis match between the Bruins and the
Willamette University Bearcats Wednesday afternoon here at the GFU
campus courts.
The match will be resumed at George Fox this coming Sunday at
11:00 a.m. With a few games completed, action will be picked
up from the point at which each of the singles matches was
halted.
Playing on their real home courts for only the second time this
spring, the Bruins won the No. 1 doubles 8-2 as Molly Beaumont and
Shaina Inn downed Shannon Palmer and Sabrina Gutierrez, and the No.
3 doubles 9-7 with Bethany Nguyen and Marissa Chau prevailing over
Hailey Arnold and Emily Funabiki. The Bearcats took the No. 2
doubles 8-4, Emily Bee and Denise Poltavski defeating Alyssa Emoto
and Cara Griffith.
