VANCOUVER, Wash. - Starting
their 2013 women's tennis spring season off with a tough NCAA
Division I opponent, the George Fox University Bruins dropped a 7-0
decision (D-I counts the three doubles matches as one point) to the
Portland State University Vikings Saturday here at the Club Green
Meadows indoor courts.
The match opened with doubles play and PSU took all three.
Daria Burobina and Kelsey Frey overcame the Bruins' No. 1
doubles team of Molly Beaumont and Shaina Inn, who
are ranked No. 11 in the Division III West Region, 8-3; Marti
Pellicano and Mandy Mallen defeated Krista Rey and Alyssa Emoto 8-2
at No. 2; and Alexa McDonald and Nayanatara Vadali downed Bethany
Nguyen and Aleassa Wren 8-1 at No.3.
The Vikings also captured all six singles as Mallen swept
Beaumont 6-0, 6-0 at No.1; Marina Todd toppled Emoto 6-3, 6-0 at
No. 2; Pellicano downed Inn 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3; Megan Govi blanked
Rey 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4; McDonald knocked off Chantelle Hadeed 6-1,
6-1 at No. 5; and Vadali dropped Alissandra Wittrig 6-0, 6-1 at
No.6.

Conference play Saturday against the University of Puget Sound at
3:00 p.m. at the GFU campus courts. ... Portland State (5-4) opens
Big Sky Conference play Saturday, hosting Montana State University
