FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Taking a 2-1 win
lead with a hard-fought win by Molly Beaumont and
Shaina Inn at No. 1 doubles, the George Fox
University Bruins built upon that momentum to take four of six
singles matches and defeat the Pacific University Boxers 6-3 in
Northwest Conference women's tennis Friday evening here at the
Holce Tennis Courts.
Pacific picked up a win at No. 2 doubles as Lillian Do and Becky
Sheller cruised by the Bruins' Chantelle Hadeed and Bethany
Nguyen 8-1, but the Bruins got even with an 8-3 win by Krista Rey
and Ali Diehl over Amber Craviotto and Kelsey Lack at No. 2.
That left it up to the No. 1 doubles, where Beaumont and Inn, one
of the top duos in the NCAA Division III West Region, improved to
12-5 with an 8-6 win over the Boxers' Synclaire Waldron and
Rachel Mizuno.
Wins in the top three singles were enough to clinch the
Bruins' second win in their last three matches.
Beaumont defeated Waldron 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1; Inn went three sets to
down Mizuno 5-7, 6-2, 6-2; and Hadeed hung on for a 7-5, 4-6, 6-4
win over Francesca Battaglia at No. 3. Rey added a victory at
No. 5 for good measure, dropping Sheller 6-2, 6-0.
The Boxers got singles wins from Do over Alissandra Wittrig 6-1,
6-0 at No. 4, and from Craviotto over Nguyen 6-2, 7-5 at No. 6.
George Fox is now 6-11 overall and 3-8 in the conference,
finishes its season Saturday at Willamette University at 11:30

0-12 slate in the NWC.
