Bruins Can't Clip Eagles In High Scoring Affair

Box Score

KIRKLAND, Wash. --- The George Fox men's basketball team headed up to Kirkland, Washington on Wednesday to play in a non-conference game against Northwest University in a tough 97-83 loss.

Recap:
The game opened up with the Eagles jumping out to a quick seven-point lead, but that lead didn't last long as the Bruins used their speed and athleticism to showcase an 8-1 run to even things up at the 12:34 mark. The Bruins took their first lead of the game a minute later when JJ Lacey knocked down a huge triple at the 11:52 mark. That lead wouldn't hold, though, as the home team found its rhythm and used a 20-2 run to take the largest lead of the game at the 4:51 mark. George Fox managed to cut that deficit in half as the clock was winding down, but went into the break down by 15, 47-32.

The second half started off on a different note, as the Bruins exploded out of the gate using a huge three by Willie Perkins and a monstrous dunk by Jacoby Wolfe to bring the deficit to eight, 47-39. In fact, the Bruins went on a 9-0 run before the Eagles even scored their first basket. Both teams went on to trade baskets for the next eight minute of the second half, but Brendan Jones sparked some momentum after a nice steal and layup to put the Bruins down by five, 66-71, which was the closest margin since the start of the game.

The Eagles continued to keep the Bruins at bay regardless of the high pressured defense and quick shooting. Although the Bruins turned the ball over 27 times on the night, they still managed out-rebound the Eagles, 43-27.

Top Performers:
The Bruins had five players in double figures on the night, as Willie Perkins led the crew with 14. He also managed four rebounds and one assist. Lacey finished with 13 and a team-high seven rebounds, while Wolfe scored 11. Ryan Thistlewood and Dylan Hamlett both scored 10 apiece.

What Comes Next:
The Bruins will come back home and host their first home game of the regular season against Saint John's (Minn.) on Saturday, November 28 at 3:00 p.m.
