PASADENA, Calif. --- The George Fox men's basketball team completed their weekend road trip down in California against the Beavers of Cal Tech in a 75-59 victory.

It wasn't the start the Bruins were looking for in the early going, as the Beavers jumped out to 15-3 lead at the 14:48 mark. Cal Tech knocked down seven of its 11 shots in the first six minutes of the game, while the Bruins managed to only rattle one home. It was a physical game inside the paint, and both teams kept the officials busy for the entire 20 minutes of play. The Bruins went to the foul line 17 times in the first half, knocking down 10 of their shots with a 58.8 percent clip.
George Fox ended up shooting 26.9 percent from the field at the half, but only trailed the Beavers by seven, 34-27.
In the start of the second, Thomas Rico and Joshua Caddel paved the way for the Bruins, as they both hit back-to-back threes to bring the Bruins within three, 45-42, at the 13:04 mark. With newfound momentum, Caddel was at it again, hitting his third-straight three of the game to force a 47-47 tie. JJ Lacey gave the Bruins their first lead since the start of the game moments later on a nifty layup.
The Bruins caught fire after the Lacey layup, scoring 11 straight unanswered points in the span of two minutes, 58-48. George Fox went on to out-score the Beavers, 48-25, in the second half. The Bruins increased their shooting percentage from the field to 42.1 percent at the end of the game.
Top Performers:
Lacey led the Bruins with 19 on 8-11 shooting, but the effort was by the entire team. Rico and Caddel finished with nine apiece, while Willie Perkins and Jacoby Wolfe recorded eight apiece. Both Johnathan Doutt and Dylan Hamlett had seven.
What It Means:
The Bruins split their California road trip, but will head home with a big win and momentum, as they host Augustana next week.
What Comes Next:
The No. 1 team in Div. III will be in Newberg next week, as the Bruins host Augustana on Tuesday, Dec. 22 at 7:00 p.m.
