SPOKANE, Wash. --- George Fox women's tennis team finished its two day road trip against Whitworth Sunday, as the Bruins fell to the Pirates, 7-2.
Whitworth improves to 2-2 on the season and 2-1 in the Northwest Conference. Meanwhile, the Bruins fall to 3-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
The Bruins fought hard in doubles and had a couple of match points at the No. 2 spot, but the Pirates would hold on taking the first three points of the match.
Sarah Tuemmler defeated Taylor Pena at #1 singles with a 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-6) victory to give the Bruins their first point of the match. The Pirates won the #3, #2, #4 and #5 singles to earn their seven points in the match. The Bruins ended the match with Ali Diehl defeating Caylee Lamm 1-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-4).
"We are continuing to improve each and every day," said head coach Rick Cruz. "We just need to believe in what we are doing. Next week will be a great test for us to see where we are at."
