Box Score NEWBERG, Ore. --- George Fox University hosted Calvin College Wednesday evening, as the Bruins dosed the Knights with goals in a 16-6 victory.
The Bruins were the first to get on the board, scoring three early goals by three different players. Miranda Edwords opened up the scoring after two minutes of play, and Christine Doherty followed suit a minute later. Marlissa Wingett netted one off a free position shot to give the Bruins a 3-0 lead. The Knights responded scoring a goal a couple minutes later, but then the Bruins went on a shooting spree, scoring nine straight goals to end the first, 12-1.
Calvin opened up the second half with a quick goal, but the Bruins answered with two goals of their own. The Knights stringed a trio of goals together towards the end of the game, bringing the score to 14-5. Both teams went back and forth after the score clock showed less than 10 minutes left with the Bruins outscoring the Knights, 2-1.
The Bruins out-shot the Knights 23-12 and recorded four more draw controls 14-10. The Bruins also managed 10 free-position shots, scoring eight of them.
Edwords and Jessica Adrian led the Bruins with four goals apiece, while Mikaela Easterlin scored a hat-trick.
The Bruins will face Augsburg College tomorrow night at 6:00 p.m.
