NEWBERG, Ore. -- The George Fox women's lacrosse program has found their next head coach.

The team announced Sharon Zemp, the fourth head coach in the Bruins' historic history, as head of the program on Wednesday. Zemp, who comes to the university from the high school ranks, inherits a program that has won their last 91 conference games, captured 10 straight NWC championships, and qualified for the NCAA Tournament six of the last seven years.

"I am honored to be a part of this amazing program and eager to help contribute to its future success," Zemp said, "George Fox has a great reputation and I love the idea of being a part of the community."

A native of Doylestown, Pa., Zemp played lacrosse and field hockey at Lock Haven University, graduating in 1997 as a three time First team All- American Lacrosse player, holding records in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference for goals in a season, goals in a career, points in a season, draw controls in a season. In addition, Zemp was also a two time National Champion Field Hockey Player and All-American.

After coming to Oregon, Zemp coached at Central Catholic High School from 2021 to 2026, inheriting a program that struggled to field a team and growing it to 40 athletes in less than two years.

Zemp was named the 2024 OGLA Coach of the Year, helping lead the Rams their first-ever Silver Cup championship in her second year before leading the team to their first Gold Cup appearance in her fourth season. In addition to her time as head coach at Central Catholic, Zemp also spent two seasons as a club lacrosse coach with Oregon Pride Lacrosse.

In addition to her coaching on the lacrosse field, Zemp has an NASM personal training certification and a NCSF certification for strength conditioning coach. She has owned her own personal training business for the last 15 years, working with many student athletes to prepare them for college sports. 

"I'm very excited to welcome Sharon, a coach with such experience in lacrosse in the Pacific Northwest," George Fox Athletic Director Adam Puckett said, "To bring in a coach that has built a local program up into a state contender and has such a passion for strength and conditioning shows our dedication to the sport, and I can't wait to see how she can push this program to the next level."

The Bruin lacrosse team will return to campus at the end of August in search of their tenth straight undefeated NWC championship season and a return to the NCAA Tournament.
