Box Score NEWBERG, Ore. --- The women's lacrosse team kept things rolling Saturday afternoon, as the Bruins beat the Loggers of Puget Sound in their first home game of the season, 11-4.
George Fox improves to 3-0 on the season and 1-0 in the Northwest Conference, while the Loggers fall to 0-2 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
The Loggers were the first to strike in the opening seconds, taking a 1-0 advantage after Roxy Krietzman found the back of the net. The Bruins responded quickly scoring two goals of their own in a three minute span to take their first lead of the match, 2-1.
UPS would net one more a minute later tying the game up, 2-2, but after that it would be all smooth sailing for the Bruins, who would net four more goals before going into the break, 6-2.
George Fox used its momentum from the first to start the second, scoring three more goals to increase their lead, 9-2. UPS wouldn't go down without a fight, though, as they rebounded and scored two goals to keep things interesting. In the final minutes, the Bruins continued to show their force holding possession for long periods of time. The Bruins would score two more goals to end the game, bringing their victory to 11-4.
George Fox out-shot UPS 28 to 19, and Alexa Nakashimada led the Bruins with three goals on the day. Christine Doherty, Miranda Edwords and Mikaela Easterlin all finished with two goals apiece. Both Jessica Adrian and Marlissa Wingett netted one. Easterlin was the point's winner in the game recording four, as she totaled two assists to go with her two goals.
Kaylee Kolin started in the net for the Bruins and recorded 13 saves.
