Box Score NEWBERG, Ore. --- George Fox University's women's lacrosse team got back on the right track Sunday afternoon, as the Bruins pounded Whitman College in a 16-7 victory.
The Bruins opened up the game with five straight goals, as newly named USA Select Team Miranda Edwords led the way, netting her 53rd and 54th goal of the season. The Missionaries went on a run of their own, though, as three different Whitman players put one in the back of the net, 5-3. The Bruins used the rest of the first half to their benefit scoring four more and Edwords completed the hat-track firing her in her 55th goal of the season, 9-3.
Whitman started the second half with a quick goal in the beginning seconds, but Jessica Adrian scored back-to-back goals which sparked a five run rally to open up the scoring. The Bruins finished the game with a comfortable margin as seven different players got in on the action.
Edwords, Adrian and Christine Doherty all scored three in the win. Mikaela Easterlin, Alexa Nakashimada and Sydney Goo scored a pair each and Ashlie Hernandez netted one. The Bruins out-shot the Missionaries 31-21 and recorded eight more ground balls in a 16-8 margin.
With the win, the Bruins improve to 10-5 on the season and 4-3 in the Northwest Conference. The Bruins will finish the regular season next week on senior night when they host Linfield College on the 25th at 5:00 p.m.
