SALEM, Ore. --- George Fox University's women's tennis team closed out the 2015 season with a huge win over the Bearcats of Willamette University, 6-3.
With the win, the Bruins improve to 10-9 on the season and 6-6 in the Northwest Conference. This is the highest finish in over ten years for the women's program.
Today, the Bruins honored two of their seniors in Chantelle Hadeed and Krista Rey.
The match got off to a good start for the Bruins, as they came out of doubles with a 2-1 lead. The Bruins were tested, though, as the Bearcats rallied back and won the No. 1 and No. 2 matches. George Fox then went on a tear dominating the No. 3, 4, 5 and 6 spots to win the match in dramatic fashion.
"We had a great season," said head coach Rick Cruz. "We finished just one spot out of the conference tournament this season, but we have a lot of positives to walk away with." Hopefully we can build off of this season and continue to move up in conference standings. We lose two great seniors and they both played major roles in helping make us the program we are today both on and off the court."
