McMINNVILLE, Ore. --- The Bruins hit the road to take on the undefeated Lewis & Clark Pioneers on Saturday. The Bruins had flashes of excellent tennis, but the Pioneers lived up to their #20 national ranking, winning 9-0.

As typical, the Pioneers were especially sharp in the doubles competition. The Bruins's Sarah Tuemmler and Kristen Mock were active and mobile, but were outslugged by Summer and Aurora Garrison in the #1 match, 8-1. Ellen Pearson and Taylor Barnes dropped the #2 match, 8-0, to Wiktoria Plawska and Kacey Incerpi, 8-0. In the #3 match, Ilsa Teppo and Andrea Motley lost to the Pioneers's Christine Eliazo and Claudia Lew.
The Bruins fared better in singles. The two Garrisons, in top form, were nearly unplayable: Summer took the #1 match over Tuemmler, who fought well, 6-0, 6-1. Aurora defeated Barnes in the #2 match, 6-0, 6-0. Pearson had some quality sets in the #3 match with Plawska but, the Pioneer took the match, 6-3, 6-1.
The most contested of the day, the #4 match saw Eliazo take the first set over Motley fairly easily, 6-1, before Motley stormed back and nearly won the second before faltering late, 6-4.
Incerpi took the #5 match over Teppo, 6-0, 6-1. Lew won the #6 match, beating Mock 6-0, 6-0.
What It Means:
Even with Saturday's loss, the Bruins remain on good footing, carrying a 4-3 overall record, 3-2 in conference.
What Comes Next:
The Bruins return home tomorrow to face Pacific Lutheran.
