NEWBERG, Ore. --- After the men completed a 9-0 win at Pacific Lutheran on Sunday, the women made it a clean sweep by blanking the Lutes, again 9-0, at home for another Bruins win.
Recap:
The #1 doubles match proved the trickiest for the Bruins. Sarah Tuemmler and Kristen Mock faced off against Caroline Dreher and Megan Beyers, and the pairs proved similarly talented. But Tuemmler and Mock held off the Lutes's late surge for a protracted 9-7 win. Taylor Barnes and Ellen Pearson won the #2 match 8-2 over Emily Bower and Emily Beemsterboer. And the Bruins took the #3 match similarly, as Ali Diehl and Andrea Motley trumped Lilly Le and Ingrid Erickson, 8-3.
In singles, Tuemmler had less trouble, dispatching Dreher in the #1 match, 6-1, 6-4. Barnes topped Beyers in the #2 match 6-1, 6-1. Pearson blanked Bower in the #3 match, 6-0, 6-0. More hotly contested was the #4 match: Motley beat Beemsterboer in a close match and did well to fend off the Lute in the second set, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5). Diehl claimed the #5 match with Le, 6-3, 6-1. And Ilsa Teppo won the #6, defeating Erickson 6-0, 6-1.

The Bruins hop up to 5-3 overall and 4-2 in conference after Sunday's competition.
