TUALATIN, Ore. --- The George Fox women's tennis team continued their busy season with a match against Southwestern (Texas) on Monday, as the Bruins fell, 7-2.
Recap:
The Pirates swept the Bruins in doubles, but it wasn't an easy sweep. Sarah Tuemmler and Kristen Mock battled tough at the No 1 spot before falling, 8-3. Andrea Motley and Ali Diehl provided the toughest match at the No. 3 spot with an 8-4 effort.
The Bruins went into singles down 3-0, but that wasn't going to stop them from trying to make a comeback in the match. Both Taylor Barnes and Ellen Pearson stepped up big time for the Bruins at the No. 3 and 4 spot with two big wins. Barnes went down in the first set, 6-3, but rallied back in the next two sets switching the score on her opponent (3-6, 6-3, 6-3). Pearson took down Jessey Martinez in straight sets (6-3, 6-4). Ali Diehl provided a hard fight at the No. 6 spot, as did Mock at the No 2 spot, taking their matches to three sets.
