Box Score 2 TUCSON, Ariz. --- The George Fox baseball team played in their only double-header on Saturday, as the Bruins came away with an even split.
Recap:
Game 1
The first inning was quiet for both teams, but the Bruins quickly changed the script in the top half of the second with four runs. Kadyn Nannini was the first to get on with a well-worked walk and Jake Thran advanced him to second on a single to left field. Kyle Esquerra singled through the six hole and the bases became loaded. Caylen Clardy came to the plate and drilled a shot to right center to bag three runners for the Bruins. AJ Valencia brought home Clardy on the next at bat with a single up the middle to give the Bruins a 4-0 lead.
Both teams went scoreless in the third and fourth, but again, the Bruins responded in the fifth with two more runs. Gabe Louthan got on with a one out single to left field and advanced to second on a stolen base. Riley McKean brought Louthan home on a two out single to left field and Nannini scored McKean on the next play with a single in the gap.
The Red Men responded in the sixth and the seventh, scoring a combined five runs to come within one, 6-5. They tacked on another run in the eighth to force a tie, but George Fox was ready in the top of the ninth.
Ansel Webster drew a walk and Clardy laid down a perfect bunt to get on first. With the go-ahead run now on second, Louthan reached on a fielder's choice that scored Webster. Needing insurance runs, Andrew Reichenbach came to the plate and hit a massive homerun over the right field fence to bring home three more runs for the Bruins.
The Bruins contained the Red Men in the bottom of the ninth and completed the win in game one.

The second game was against the Buena Vista Beavers, who entered the game with two weeks of rest. The well-rested Beavers beat the Bruins, 24-3.
