Box Score NEWBERG, Ore. --- The George Fox women's lacrosse team ran into a well-oiled machine on Friday night, as the Bruins fell 21-9 in a non-conference game against the Tigers of Colorado College.
Recap:
The Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 start in the first three minutes of the half, but the Bruins responded seven minutes later with three of their own. After a 4-4 game at the 17:16 mark, the Tigers managed to sneak away again with two more goals in the span of 20 seconds, 6-4. Jess Hanson tallied a goal at the 11:32 mark, but that would be the last goal scored by the Bruins in the half. Meanwhile, the Tigers scored six straight goals to end the half up by seven, 12-5.
Although the Bruins were down by seven going into the second half, the tenacity never went away. With each possession the Bruins showed their true colors as they fought hard against the Tigers.
Top Performers:
Alexa Nakashimada led the team with four goals on six shots, with all six on frame. Miranda Edwords tallied two goals, and three other players recorded one. Mikaela Easterlin recorded 12 saves on the night.
What It Means:
The Tigers complete their northwest trip 3-0 after taking down both Pacific (20-9) and Linfield (22-2) earlier on in the week. The loss puts the Bruins at 7-4 on the season, but the Bruins are still atop the conference standings at 5-0.
What Comes Next:
The Bruins will take to the road as they travel to Linfield on April 16 and Pacific on April 20 before hosting their last game on April 23 against Puget Sound.
