Box Score NEWBERG, Ore. --- The George Fox women's lacrosse team continued their perfect Northwest Conference season on Saturday, as the Bruins beat the Wildcats of Linfield College, 21-5.
Recap:
The Bruins wasted no time setting the tone early on, as senior Alexa Nakashimada netted the first goal of the game at the 28:46 mark. After the 1-0 start, the Bruins scored six straight before the Wildcats got on the board at the 6:54 mark, 7-1.
With time winding down in the first half, the Bruins continued to plug away with three more goals to take the 10-2 lead at the half.
Samantha Ward got things going for the Bruins in the start of the second, scoring the Bruins 11th goal in the first 50 seconds, 11-2. The 'Cats answered back five minutes later with their third goal of the game from Angelica Martinez, but the Bruins scored twice in a five second span to go up by 10, 13-3.
The remainder of the second half was all Bruins as they cruised to a 21-5 victory.
Top Performers:
Nakashimada and Miranda Edwords both led the Bruins with four goals apiece. Lois Ray tallied three goals, and five other players recorded two each. Mikaela Easterlin split time with Alyssa Poffenroth in the net, as they each played 30 minutes between the sticks. The Bruins recorded 44 shots in the game, while the 'Cats put up 12.
What It Means:
The Bruins are still perfect in the Northwest Conference at 6-0 after today's win. They improve to 8-4 on the season.
What Comes Next:
The Bruins will visit Pacific on Wednesday, April 20 at 6:00 p.m. in what will be the game of the week. Last time the two teams met, the Bruins came away with a 13-12 victory.
