NEWBERG, Ore. --- The George Fox women's tennis team earned a huge win on Saturday as the Bruins downed the Boxers of Pacific, 6-3.
Recap:
The Bruins started off with momentum in the match after taking the doubles, 2-1. Kristen Mock and Andrea Motley fought off Mai Kobayashi and Chantelle Baclay 8-5 at No. 2 doubles. Catrina Kwong and Ali Diehl matched their teammates with an 8-5 victory at No. 3 doubles over Kanani Kea and Marissa Hayashi.
With the 2-1 lead, the Bruins continued to pound the Boxers as Sarah Tuemmler won her match in straight sets at No. 1 and Taylor Barnes did the same at No. 4 singles. Catrina Kwong fought off Danielle du Plooy in three sets to earn the victory at No. 2 singles.
What It Means:
With the win, the Bruins improve to 12-8 on the season and 7-4 in the Northwest Conference.
What Comes Next:
The Bruins will host Linfield College on Sunday, April 17 at 1:00 p.m.
