Box Score AUSTIN, Texas --- The George Fox baseball team completed the Concordia Texas Baseball Classic Sunday morning against Rhodes College, as the Bruins came away with a 3-1 victory over the Lynx.

On a day where most people are gearing up for the Super Bowl, the Bruins were hard at work in their final game of the Concordia Texas Baseball Classic.
It didn't take long for the Bruins to find some momentum, as Tristan Guillen singled through the left side to open up the third inning. Sam Swenson came to the plate with two outs looming, but provided the first run of the game after a double to right field put the Bruins on the board. Kyler Brudwick matched Swenson with a double of his own to left center, and the Bruins were up 2-0. Brudwick advanced to third on a wild pitch and Dillon Blankenship singled up the middle to give the Bruins an early 3-0 lead.
AJ Atherton kept the Lynx guessing, as the sophomore lefty went to work for five innings. Atherton allowed just two hits and one run in his 5.1 innings of work, while striking out five batters and walking two.
The Lynx were able to get on the board in the sixth, but Mikah Takashige came in to quickly put out any type of momentum. Matt Voelzke closed out the game for the Bruins facing six batters, while striking out four. He recorded his first save of the season.
Top Performers:
Atherton goes 1-0 on the season after today's win. Swenson, Guillen and AJ Valencia led the bats with two hits each on the day.
What It Means:
The Bruins end the Texas trip with three straight wins to start the season at 3-1.
What Comes Next:
The Bruins will come back home to host the Northwest Conference Pre-Season Tourament Feb. 9-12.
