Box Score

WALLA WALLA --- The George Fox women's lacrosse team kept its season perfect Saturday, as the Bruins beat the Whitman Blues in a Northwest Conference matchup, 13-10.

Recap:

Jess Hanson opened up the scoring to start the game, as the senior netted an unassisted goal after two minutes of play. Lois Ray found Emma Fanger for the Bruin's second goal, and Hanson gave the Bruins a 3-0 lead after a free position shot found the back of the net.

The Blues were able to get on board at the 19:20 mark, but the Bruins responded with a goal from Jennifer Burke after Ray recorded her second assist of the game.  Whitman strung together two straight goals to bring the game within one, 4-3, but the Bruins answered with three straight in the span of four minutes.

Lois Ray ended the first half with an unassisted goal to give the Bruins an 8-4 lead going into the break.

George Fox kept up its hot start, scoring two straight goals to take a 10-4 lead after Ray and Hanson continued to find the back of the net. Whitman wouldn't go away, though, going on a 6-1 rampage to bring them within one in the final eight minutes of regulation.

Not afraid of the challenge, the Bruins answered with a goal from freshman Jocelyn Welburg to give the Bruins some separation. Madison Strickland put the icing on the cake in the final minutes after Ray made a nice pass to give Stickland the Bruins' 13th goal of the game.

The Bruins ended the game with stingy defense to record the 13-10 victory.
