BEAVERTON --- The George Fox women's tennis team came away with a big win Friday night, as the Bruins took down Northwest Conference foe Pacific University, 8-1.

Sophia Lawrence and Laney Search helped kick-start the night for the Bruins, as the pair won their match at the No. 3 spot in doubles, 8-1. Jillian Studer and Lydia Pia were able to keep the momentum going at the No. 2 spot, winning their match, 8-5. Catrina Kwong and Kristen Mock provided the final blow in doubles, as the No. 1 team won its match, 8-6.
With a 3-0 lead heading into singles, the Bruins made quick of their opponent. Of the six matches in singles play, three of them were retired early. Studer was up in her match at No. 3 singles before her opponent retired, as well as Search at the No. 5 spot. Kwong was solid at the No. 1 spot with a 6-0, 6-4 victory, while Lawrence had a gutsy match at the No. 4 spot. The freshman was relentless, dropping her first set, but taking the final two, 6-2, 6-0 to earn the Bruins the point.
Emily Brink secured her point for the Bruins at the No. 6 spot with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
What It Means:
The Bruins improve to 4-7 and 2-4 in the NWC.
What Comes Next:
The Bruins will hit the road and compete in a four-game stint with matches down in California. The first one is against Whittier Sunday, March 25.
