ORANGE --- The George Fox baseball team began its California swing with a matchup against the Chapman Panthers Wednesday evening, as the Bruins fell, 10-0.
Recap:
The Bruins and Panthers held each other scoreless through the first two innings before the Bruins were the first to threaten in the top of the third.
Dillon Blankenship led off the inning with a double down the left field line and moved over to third on a groundout by Turner Glenn. With two outs, Austin Baek's fly out left Blankenship stranded.
Chapman jumped on the board in the bottom of the third with an RBI single to take a 1-0 lead.
The Bruins put runners on base multiple times through the middle innings but could not produce the key hit to bring runners home. The Panthers added runs in the fourth and fifth innings before exploding for six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The pitching and defense of the Panthers continued to keep the Bruin bats at bay late into the game as Chapman sealed the 10-0 win.
Top Performers:
Blankenship's 1 for 2 day was highlighted by his third inning double. Kyle Esquerra, AJ Valencia and Baek each recorded hits for the Bruins.
What It Means:
The Bruins fall to 15-12 on the season.

The Bruins will enjoy a day off before opening up a three-game series with Whittier on Friday. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
