ABILENE --- The George Fox women's tennis team kicked off the second half of its season on Friday, as the Bruins played No. 34 Southwestern (Texas) at Hardin-Simmons in a neutral site match. The Bruins dropped the 2019 season opener, 9-0.

Jillian Studer and Laney Search had a competitive outing at the No. 1 doubles spot but fell to Wilde/Bowers, 8-4. Alyssa Byde and Lily Elmer were tough in the opening first points at the No. 3 spot, but fell to the Pirates, 8-3.
The Pirates ran away in singles action, taking all six sets in straight sets.
What Comes Next:
The Bruins will look to rebound Saturday, Feb. 16, with a match against Hardin-Simmons and McMurry.
