NEWBERG --- The George Fox lacrosse team hosted Whitworth for Senior Day on Sunday, earning a commanding 20-0 win in their final game of the regular season.

Recap:

Senior Lois Ray found the back of the net just 10 seconds into the game on an assist by Jennifer Burke. The goal was the first of five unanswered for the Bruins in the first 10 minutes of play, two of which came in the space of under a minute from Madison Strickland.

From the 20:28 mark to the 18:09 mark, Ray tallied an unbelievable three assists and a goal as the Bruins took an 8-0 lead.

The Pirates had no answer for George Fox on either offense or defense as the home team jumped out to a massive 13-0 lead as the first half wound down.

The Bruins wasted no time out of the half, scoring three goals in just over 10 minutes of play to push the lead all the way out to 16.

Ray assisted on another three goals from the 19:33 mark to the 12:51 mark, finding Isabella Alfaro, Strickland and Grace Matteson.

The Pirates never managed to set up their offense in their 60 minutes of play. The Bruins continued to pick apart the Whitworth defense, making it a resounding 20-0 win after Ray found the back of the net on an assist by Burke with just 1:44 left in the game.

Top Performers:

Matteson, Strickland and Ray all scored four times in the rout. Ray got it done for her teammates as well, dishing out a career-best nine assists. Burke had a great game also, finding the back of the net three times and winning draw control after draw control. Alfaro and Andrea Garcia-Miller contributed a pair of goals apiece.

What It Means:

The Bruins finish the 2019 regular season with an undefeated record of 12-0 in conference play, and are now 14-2 overall.

What Happens Next:

The Bruins await the results of the NCAA DIII selection show. After securing their fourth consecutive NWC Championship the Bruins have captured the conference automatic qualifying bid and are headed to NCAA postseason play for the first time in program history.
