Box Score 2 NEWBERG, Ore. --- The George Fox baseball team wrapped up its weekend series against the Pacific (Ore.) Boxers with a pair of losses in the second doubleheader of the weekend to split the series 2-2.
How It Happened
The Bruins fell behind early in game one of Sunday's doubleheader and never truly recovered after surrendering an early lead. The Boxers plated a run in the first frame, three more in the third, and then put the game in the freezer with nine in the fourth. For their part, the Bruins notched six hits and drew three walks, but none of those runners made it home safely in the 16-0 loss.
In game two the Bruins were able to limit the Boxers' offense to four total runs and had their chances throughout. After Pacific claimed another early lead the Bruins shut the Boxers' offense down for the majority of the seven-inning game, but the Bruins' offense struggled to string anything together until the final stretch. A pair of singles in the fifth from Shane White and Franklin Leonard turned into a run for George Fox and the Bruins had the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, but the Boxers wiggled off the hook to take the second game 4-1.
Top Performers
White was 1-for-3 with the Bruins' lone run and Matt Sebolsky was .500 at 2-for-4 on the afternoon. JC Gross and Chase Fetzer were effective for the Bruins out of the 'pen with three scoreless innings in the second game of the day.
What It Means
The Bruins are 2-2 on the year after the weekend series against the Boxers.
