Box Score SALEM, Ore. --- The George Fox women's lacrosse team kept its undefeated season alive with another conference victory over Willamette, 18-7, on the Bearcats' turf.
How It Happened
Carleigh DeLapp scored first to break the scoreless tie off an assist from Andrea Garcia-Milla, but the Bearcats recovered and took a 3-1 lead after 15 minutes had ticked off the clock. After the Bearcats' 3-0 run gave them the lead, the Bruins went on an 11-0 run of their own to lead 12-3 at the half. DeLapp, Holly Esposito, Kyra Barnes, Bailey Faust, Madison Strickland, and Garcia-Milla all contributed to the scoring run to close the half.
The Bruins put in two early goals to turn on the running clock and kept it on for the rest of the afternoon as Peyton Bergren, Julia Quist, DeLapp, and Barnes continued their assault of the Bearcats' twine for an 18-7 final.
Top Performers
DeLapp notched a double hat trick, or 'double hatty' in lacrosse parlance, for the second time in her freshman career, and Barnes tallied five to help the Bruins pass the Bearcats. Ella Rand made four saves against seven shots to earn the win and Emma Webb also added four stops in relief.
What It Means
The Bruins improve to 6-0 overall and 4-0 against NWC opponents while the Bearcats fall to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in conference after their first loss of 2021.
