McMINNVILLE, Ore. --- The George Fox lacrosse team completed its weekend sweep of Linfield with an 18-6 final on Sunday, Mar. 7, behind another multi-hat trick day for the Bruins.
How It Happened
The Bruins raced out to a 4-1 lead by the midpoint of the first half and never looked back. Linfield answered with three goals of its own in the first half, but the Bruins took an 8-3 lead at the break and kept the gas pedal to the floor through the final horn of the second half.
The two sides traded goals to start the second half, but George Fox put in the last five of the game and had a running clock against the 'Cats for the final 13 minutes of action.
Top Performers
Marena Tharpe, Kyra Barnes, Carleigh DeLapp, and Madison Strickland each notched a hat trick in the win with at least three goals apiece. Andrea Garcia-Milla and Sydney Thatch joined the fun with two goals each, and Ella Rand tallied eight saves against 14 shots on frame in the win.
What It Means
The Bruins are 2-0 to lead the NWC and Linfield falls to 0-2 to start the year. The Bruins have also guaranteed a season series win with one final matchup left on the 2021 slate in May against the 'Cats.
