NEWBERG, Ore. --- George Fox hosted Willamette on Saturday, Apr. 10, for a Northwest Conference matchup and came away with a perfect 9-0 sweep on their home court.
How It Happened
The Bruins swept doubles with an 8-1 win by Sophia Lawrence & Laney Search, an 8-2 win by Olivia Morris & Ellie Mangan, and an 8-1 win by Taylor Morris & Danielle Brown.
In singles play, Lawrence came up with a hard-fought 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 win at the no. 1 spot, while O. Morris earned a 6-2, 6-3 win at the no. 2 spot. Alyssa Byde won her no. 3 match with a 6-1, 6-0 final and Emily McDonald claimed the no. 4 singles flight with a 6-0, 6-1 win. Brenna VanderYacht won no. 5 singles 6-1, 6-1, and Abigail Ramer won a marathon at no. 6 with a 4-6, 6-1, 10-5 final to complete the sweep.

"This was a great team win!" coach Rick Cruz said afterward. "Everyone got an opportunity to play and they were all able to pick up a win. We can't wait to play again tomorrow."
What It Means
The Bruins improve to 6-1 overall and are 5-1 in NWC matchups, while the Bearcats are 0-6 overall and 1-5 against NWC schools by virtue of a Whitman forfeit.
