WALLA WALLA, Wash. --- The women's tennis program at George Fox continues to roll through the 2021 season and earned another conference victory on Saturday, Apr. 17, with a 7-2 decision at Whitman.
How It Happened
The Blues spotted George Fox two points in the match with forfeits at the no. 3 doubles spot and at no. 6 singles. The Bruins finished the doubles sweep with an 8-6 win at no. 1 by Sophia Lawrence and Laney Search, and a 8-7 (2) win at no. 2 doubles from Ellie Mangan and Danielle Brown.
The Blues took the no. 1 and no. 3 singles, but Search collected a 6-3, 6-4 win at no. 2 singles to clinch the win. Mangan won 6-4, 6-0 at no. 4 singles and Taylor Morris capped the day with a hard-won, three-set victory in no. 5 singles after a 3-6, 6-2, 10-8 final.
Their Thoughts
"The girls competed very well and pulled out the big points in both doubles and singles when we needed them,"coach Rick Cruz said after the win. "It was great to see everyone step up against a good team like Whitman!"
What It Means
The Bruins are now second in the Northwest Conference standings with an 8-1 overall record and a 5-1 mark against NWC opponents this spring. Whitman falls to 3-3 overall and 3-2 in conference this season.

George Fox will wrap up the 2021 regular season with matches against Linfield and Lewis & Clark, both at home in Newberg.
