NEWBERG, Ore. --- George Fox women's tennis took on the top conference opponent in the 2021 standings, Linfield, and fell 9-0 at home to the Wildcats.
How It Happened
The Wildcats swept doubles, 3-0, to get off to an advantageous start. Sophia Lawrence and Laney Search led the charge with an 8-6 result at no. 1 doubles, but the Wildcats took the other two pairings more easily.
In singles, Search put up a good fight in her second flight in a 7-6 (7-2), 6-1 defeat. Danielle Brown and Lawrence also put up good resistance against the Wildcats, but Linfield still came away with all six singles flights in the sweeping win.
What It Means
The Bruins fall to 5-2 in conference after just their second loss of 2021, moving to 8-2 overall.
What Happens Next
The Bruins will close out the regular season with a test against Lewis & Clark on Friday, Apr. 30, in Newberg as they honor their seniors and play for their NWC tournament seed.
