WALLA WALLA, Wash. --- The Bruins split day two of the season series against the Whitman College Blues in a doubleheader that gave both teams a taste of a zero-run game.
How it Happened
Game three was rather slow, with only two runs coming out of the Blues in the third and fourth. Unfortunately, a scoreless game on the Bruins' side meant that the Blues would take it 2-0.
Game four wasn't much different in terms of low scoring, but this time the Bruins used it to their advantage. A single run in the first kept them up by a slim margin through most of the game. After four scoreless innings, an RBI single from Jared Miller in the sixth kicked things off again. A pair of RBI doubles by Jayce Lien and Brandon King, along with an RBI single from Emery Miller, made it 5-0 in the seventh. The Blues had their shot to answer but failed, and the Bruins took the game 5-0.
Top Performers
Emery Miller produced two of the day's RBI hits and Chase Fetzer made six punchouts through six innings of work in game four. Fetzer, along with Marc Audet, also made two double-plays each.
What it Means
The Bruins add one to each side of the column at 10-12 in the conference and keep it even at 15-15 overall. The Blues do likewise at 16-15.
What Happens Next
The Bruins face the Linfield Wildcats at home in a season series beginning at noon on Friday, April 30. The Bruins will be celebrating their seniors as well that day.
