Box Score 2 FOREST GROVE, Ore. --- George Fox split its final doubleheader of 2021 with Pacific (Ore.) to wrap up its 2021 baseball season with a 5-1 win in game one and a 5-4 loss in game two.
How It Happened
Ben Wills got the start in game three of the series to start the day and lasted all nine, capping a stellar breakout season with a complete-game win in a one-run effort.
Ty Davis drove in Leon Johnson III in the second inning to plate the first run of the day with a sacrifice fly in the second inning of game one. The Boxers leveled the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the frame with an RBI double, but the Bruins plated four unanswered and shut out the Boxers down the stretch for the 5-1 win.
An RBI single in the fifth by Brandon King forced in Breyndon Nakamura, Jared Whitaker doubled home Derek Williams in the sixth and scored later on a two-base error by the Boxers, and Davis lifted a second sac fly into left field in the eighth for the final run of the game.
In game two, the Bruins fell behind 3-0 by the end of the third inning before they broke out their bats in the fifth inning to tie it up. Cutter Kitson and Franklin Leonard wore pitches and Nakamura singled to load the bases for Jeremy Sangalang, and the freshman infielder lifted a two-RBI single into center to make it 3-2. A walk by Marc Audet loaded the bags again, and an RBI double-play ball tied it 3-3.
The Bruins scored Bleu Ellis in the sixth with an RBI single from Leonard, but the Boxers got that run back and scored the game-winner in the sixth with a sacrifice fly and a wild pitch. The Bruins got Audet to second in the seventh with a single and a stolen base, but they stranded him there in a failed rally to fall 5-4 in the season finale.

Jared Miller and Jonathan Stone each went 2-for-4 in the game one victory and each knocked a double in the win. Wills' complete-game win is his first at the collegiate level as he scattered eight hits, three walks, and four fanned batters throughout the nine innings on the mound.
