SEATTLE – George Fox Track and Field sent several athletes to Seattle this weekend, to cap off the indoor season at the Last Chance Invite, hosted by the University of Washington. The Bruins not only had several top-ten finishes at the division one meet, but they also had six Bruins work their way onto the school record list, including a few new school records.
Top Performances
Ellie Rising and
Brenna Sclair shook up the record books in the Women's mile. Rising ran a 4:56 mile, taking the first place spot on the all-time leader board, dethroning fellow Fox teammate Sclair. Sclair herself ran a 5:11, good enough to give her fourth on the all-time record list for Fox.
Bryon Morris ran the Men's 60-meter dash in 6.98 seconds, making him third all-time at George Fox in the event.
Levi Gibson broke his own indoor pole vault record, after a jump of 15-06.25, he now holds the first-place jump in the Bruin record books.
Taylor Phillips came in seventh in the Men's heptathlon, his best events being the high jump and 60-meter hurdles, in which he finished third and fifth.
Kayla Aalpoel also etched her name in the Bruin history books, finishing the Women's 5000-meter race with a time of 17:59, putting her second all-time in school history for the event.
Not done changing the Bruin record books yet, James King finished fifth in the Men's high jump, with a jump of 6-09.00, which puts him at third in the George Fox records.
Ethan Kassebaum and
Cameron Seymour went seventh and eighth in the Men's high jump, with jumps of 23-10.00 and 23-05.25.
Bruin head coach
John Smith highlighted several athletes after the game.
Brecken VandenHoek and
Tayler Phillips both moved into good spots on the pentathlon and heptathlon lists, while King's solid high jump came in a primarily D-I field.
"It was mostly PAC-12 schools for all the competitions, so we had some nice performances," Smith said.
