Bruins Kick Off Outdoor Season With Linfield Icebreaker Meet

McMINNVILLE, Ore. -- The George Fox Track and Field team had an impressive showing to start the outdoor season, as they took a top-three finish for both the men's and women's teams at the Erik Anderson Memorial Icebreaker at Linfield.

Top Performances
Tom McMillan and Connor Hatch got second and third in the men's 400-meter hurdles, with times of 58.93 and 59.08 respectively.

In the women's 800-meter run, Annalise Gonzales took first place, outpacing second place by five seconds with her time of 2:23. Elizabeth Warren finished third with a time of 2:27.

Austin Gappa ran a 15:33 5,000-meter run, good for second place in the event. He was followed by teammate Aidan Arthur, who finished in third with a 15:37.

Freshman Kayla Aalpoel started her outdoor season with a second-place finish in the women's 10,000-meter, with her teammate Sarah Pullen right behind her in third place.

Tahnisha Manibusan threw 145-05 feet and took second in the women's hammer throw. For the men's hammer throw, Ben Meade took first place in the event, with a throw of 155-02.

Marina Carrol and Maddie O'Hare placed first and second in the women's high jump, while Tiger Brunk took third in the men's high jump.

Christine Strickland won the women's javelin event with a throw of 136-08 feet, and Ellena Corwin finished in third place with a throw of 118-06. 

Corwin also placed in the women's shot put as well, finishing second, with Scott McBride taking second in the men's.

The Men's 4x400 meter relay team finished second, Max Ashour ran the first lap, Blake Smith and Tayler Phillips held down the middle, and Cameron Seymour ran the anchor leg. 

What Comes Next
GFU hosts the Rich Allen Classic at Stoffer Family Stadium on March 18, with field events starting at 9:30 am, and track events at 11 am. On the Indoor side, Fox will compete at the NCAA Championships in Birmingham, Ala. on Mar. 9 and 10.
