Fox Distance Takes On Cali. Field Competes at Lewis & Clark Invite

AZUSA, Calif. -- In early weekend action, the George Fox track team split up and competed at two meets, with some of the distance team running in the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific University And the field team competing at the Lewis & Clark Invite. 

How It Happened – Bryan Clay Invitational
Fox's first event at the Bryan Clay Invitational started Thursday evening with Jessica Neal setting a personal best mark by seven seconds in the 3000 meter steeplechase. 

The Bruins ran four athletes in the men's and womens' 10,000 meter run. Peter Weiss, Adam Peterson, and Alex Mills ran for the men, and Kayla Aapoel in the women's. Weiss was the top finishing Bruin for the men with a 30:19, and Aapoel finished with a 36:35. 

Brenna Sclair had the best finish of the day for GFU, taking fifth in the women's 5k with a time of 17:12. The time was a personal best for Sclair by twenty seconds, beating her previous time of 17:32. 
Ellie Rising capped off the Friday with an impressive 2:11 mark in the women's 800. 

How It Happened – Lewis & Clark Invite
Back home in Oregon, two George Fox pole vaulters finished in the top three, with Alison Young placing second with a vault of 11-09.75 feet, and Payton Davidson in third with a mark of 11-03.75.

In the men's and women's hammer throw, Tahnisha Manibusan took third in the women's with a throw of 148-06 feet, and Ben Meade came in second for the men with a throw of 169-11. 

What Comes Next
The Bruins have a larger pool of runners and throwers going tomorrow at the Lewis & Clark Invite tomorrow, which starts up at 9:30 am in Portland, Ore.
