PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Oregon Sports Awards officially honored
Alison Takamiya as the co-winner of the 2024 Ad Rutschman Small College Female Athlete of the Year on Tuesday night, adding to the long list of the golfer's credentials.
Each year, a male and a female athlete are selected from a field of NCAA D-II, D-III, NAIA, and community college student-athletes from 24 different institutions in the state of Oregon. The nominees for the award are voted on by various media members and sports professionals around the state.
Takamiya was a co-winner alongside Southern Oregon women's wrestler Carolina Moreno. Who won her third consecutive NAIA wrestling title in 2024. Like Moreno, Takamiya was a national champion herself, winning the 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Individual Championship.
A native of Honolulu, Hawai'i, Takamiya studied Business Administration with a minor in graphic design. She is a three-time Northwest Conference Player of the Year as well as the 2024 Division III PING WGCA Player of the Year, 2024 D-III Inkster Award Winner, 2024 DIII Honda Athlete of the Year Award Finalist, and 2024 NWC Woman of the Year.Â

"I am so thrilled for Alison on this well-deserved award!" Bruin women's golf head coach
MaryJo McCloskey said, "Alison gives so much to her sport and team, and it's great to see her hard work pay off with this tremendous recognition. It's also a first for our program so it's nice to get our school's name out there as a national contender in the golf world. Our entire team is celebrating and could not be happier for Alison!"
In addition to her athletic achievements, Takamiya served as a junior leader at the Honolulu Christian Preschool and volunteered for the Portland Classic social media, George Fox Serve Day, and the George Fox Business Bake Sale. She is a four-time WGCA Academic All-American Scholar and a four-time Northwest Conference Scholar Athlete.
Takamiya and Moreno were joined by the men's Small College Athlete of the Year, Eastern Oregon's Hunter Sparks, who also finished as a national champion in the NAIA 125 Wright Division, earning the 2024 NAIA Outstanding Wrestler of the Year award.
The award marks the third time that The Oregon Sports Awards has selected a George Fox athlete to receive the prestigious honor since it was first awarded in 2001.
