NEWBERG, Ore. -- After a strong team performance on the final day of the Bruin Invitational, the George Fox men's swim team powered to a dominant victory with 1011 points, while the women's team finished in second place with a score of 785.5.
How It Happened
Fox's first podium of the day came in the men's 200 yard medley relay, when
Aries Valenzuela, Storm Nordeng,
Cameron Alexander and
August Maberry clinched second place in 1:37.07.
The Bruins impressed on both sides of the 400 yard individual medley, with
Kaylee Dicey securing third place in the women's event with her time of 4:50.61.
Wyatt Greene took second on the men's side with his mark of 4:24.04, while
Aiden Buchanan finished third in 4:27.83.
Riley Parker continued her strong stretch of form in the women's 50 yard freestyle, securing second in 25.49 – just two tenths behind the race winner.
Cameron Alexander was the best finisher for the men, his time of 22.44 good enough for third.
The Women's 100 yard breaststroke saw Parker pick up yet another podium, this time a third place finish in 1:11.26.
The Bruin men had strong races in the 100 yard backstroke, with Valenzuela claiming second place in 53.73, while
Christopher McLellan was right behind him, finishing in third after a time of 55.87.
Jesse Urback picked up the next podium for the Bruins after her time of 2:00.26 saw her secure third place in the women's 200 yard freestyle. Greene clinched another second place finish on the men's side, finishing less than a second behind the winner in 1:50.46.
Cameron Alexander clinched the next win for the Bruins in the men's 200 yard freestyle, racing away to a four second victory in 2:00.75.
The Bruin's finished out the meet with the 400 yard freestyle relay events. The women's team secured a podium finish with
Riley Parker,
Heidi Gray,
Kaylee Dicey and
Mia Smith taking home third place after racing a 3:46.61. The men's team of
Wyatt Greene, Cameron ALexander,
August Maberry and
Aries Valenzuela also finished in third in 3:17.43.
What It Means
The meet wraps up Fox's first half of their 2024-2025 season, as they will break for the Christmas holiday period before returning to the pool in the New Year.
What Comes Next
The Bruins will hit the water again on Saturday, January 11, for their first meet of the new year. The first race is set for 1:00 p.m. at the Chehalem Aquatic Center in Newberg, Ore.
