TACOMA, Wash. -- The George Fox swim team delivered four race wins in their dual meet against Pacific Lutheran, but was unable to secure the meet win, with the men losing 80-104, and the women also falling, 73-112.
How It Happened
Fox opened the meet with a second place finish in the women's 400 yard medley relay, with
Jesse Urback,
Riley Parker,
Ellie Hoover and
Heidi Gray racing a strong time of 4:26.31.
The Bruins also picked up a second place on the men's side, with
Aries Valenzuela,
Strom Nordeng,
Cameron Alexander and
August Maberry clocking in at 3:46.54.
Jesse Urback picked up Fox's first win of the meet in the women's 200 yard freestyle, blasting past the competition in a time of 2:07.07.
Ellie Hoover also secured a podium finish, clinching third place in 2:12.36.
The Bruins secured another race win in the very next event, when
Wyatt Greene edged out the competition in the men's 200 yard freestyle with his mark of 1:52.50.Â
Mia Smith was the top finisher for Fox in the women's 50 yard freestyle, clinching third place in 26.78. In the men's event,
Cameron Alexander and
August Maberry finished in second and third, racing times of 22.80 and 23.50, respectively.
Riley Parker impressed in the women's 200 yard individual medley, picking up a second place finish in 2:20.83. Aiden Buchanon raced well in the men's division of the event, finishing in 2:11.90 to take home third place.
Buchanan continued this dominant form in the next event — the men's 200 yard butterfly – racing in 2:06.82 to finish four seconds clear of the nearest competitor on his way to the win.
Tobin Jansen also picked up a podium finish in the event, claiming third in 2:13.93.
Mia Smith picked up another freestyle podium finish in the women's 100 yard freestyle, clinching second place in 58.43.
Fox's next race win came in the men's 100 yard freestyle, with
Cameron Alexander clocking in at 50.83 to secure victory.
The 200 yard backstroke saw the Bruins deliver a strong performance on both the men's and women's sides.
Aries Valenzuela raced in 2:06.59 to secure a win for the men, while
Zoey Stapelman and
Claire Harmon finished in second and third with times of 2:29.42 and 2:32.73.
The Bruins also continued their strong form across long distance events.
Kaylee Dicey took home second place on the women's side with a time of 5:42.79, while
Abby Roche was right third in 6:16.92. In the men's division,
Wyatt Greene clinched second in 5:14.13, while
Micah Hugo was right behind him to place third in 5:17.49.
Riley Parker secured Fox's next podium of the meet in the women's 200 yard breaststroke, delivering a strong performance and time of 2:38.56 to clinch second place.
Claire Harmon was also impressive, securing a podium finish with her time of 2:50.00, good enough for third.
On the men's side,
Strom Nordeng was the top finisher for the Bruins, racing a time of 2:24.81 to secure third.
Fox rounded out the meet with the 400 yard freestyle relay events. On the women's side,
Kaylee Dicey,
Laurel Knox, Claire Kuniper and
Mia Smith raced a 3:59.04 to finish in second. In the men's event,
Owen Tonseth,
Blake Nilsen,
Aiden Buchanan and
Jeremiah Latin placed third with their time of 3:40.33. Â
