Box Score NEWBERG, Ore. -- The George Fox baseball team took in a loss against the Western Oregon Wolves, struggling to get on base in a 0-9 loss to the Division II team.
How It HappenedÂ
The first inning was difficult for the Bruins as they struggled to gain control as Western oregon scored five quick runs in the first inning. The first inning would prove to have most of the fireworks, as Fox scattered just three hits across the nine innings, with
Evan Balingit,
Kaden Oshiro, and
Noah Takayama each recording a hit.
Each team had a hard time making progress on the 5-0 score. Fox used several pitchers in the midweeker, with
Lucas Plenert,
Blane Peal,
Spencer Johnson, and
Andrew Miller all tossing scoreless innings. The Bruins' best chance to score came in the seventh inning, with Takayama doubling, but Fox couldn't get on the board. When all was said and done, Western Oregon had defeated the Bruins, 9-0.

Kaden Oshiro totaled one hit each—Takayama also acquired one double for the evening.
Lucas Plenert struck out three batters in his one inning pitched.

George Fox will host a non-conference series against #11 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in Newberg. The first game will be on Friday, April 18 at 3:00 pm.
