WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- The George Fox men's golf team put together a blistering team performance in the second round of the NWC Spring Conference en route to a season best finish — tying for second place, just one shot behind #45 Willamette University.

Top Performers
Brenden Borck led the way for Fox, firing a two-under par round of 70 to finish in fifth place individually. The senior carded a steady even par on his first nine, before coming home with three birdies in his last eight holes.

Truman Fletcher was next in line for the Bruins, continuing his extremely steady play. Fletcher had just one birdie and one bogey on his front nine, before making eight straight pars and a birdie on the last to shoot 71 (-1), good enough for a top-10 individual finish.

Cole Rivers also shot a one-under 71 in the second round, surging up the leaderboard with five birdies in an eight hole stretch through the middle of his round.

Ian Powers also put together a steady round of 74 (+2) as the final counting score for Fox. The sophomore carded two birdies and an eagle on his front nine to make the turn at two-under, before coming in with several bogeys and one birdie on his second nine.

Freshman Blake Johnston rounded out the Bruin lineup, backing up his first round 70 with a 75 (+3). Johnson was steady all day, carding four bogeys, one birdie and a slew of pars on his way to a 10th place individual finish — his best of the season.

Coach's Thoughts
"Guys played really well but hard and never gave up," Bruin head coach Caleb Fernandez, "It was super good to see us improve on day two and shoot the best score out of all the teams today, a lot to build on."
