Fox Ends PLU Invite in Sixth Place

GIG HARBOR, Wash. -- The George Fox men's golf team finished the PLU Invitational in sixth place — ending with 600 (+48) — after a tough two-day competition. 

Top Performances
Leading the Bruins for day two was Ian Powers who went 155 (+11) overall and placed in 39th. Powers came out with a birdie on the first hole on the front nine, and only continued to thrive into the back nine where he had two more birdies and an impressive eagle on the 17th hole, finishing his day with a 73 (+1), one of the best rounds of the day. Elli Harrell had two birdies on the front nine and added another on the back nine. Harrell ended the day second for George Fox, tying for 26th, and with a score of 150 (+6). 

Next up was Truman Fletcher who had a comprehensive total of 147 (+3) and tied for 13th. After the front nine, Fletcher really shone on the back nine with three birdies. Luke Powell did well on the front nine with a birdie, and ended the day tying for 39th, 153 (+9). Joel Martinez rounded up the score for the Bruins "A" team; overall, Martinez had two birdies and tied for 54th, 160 (+16). 

The George Fox "B" team ended in 13th place with a cumulative total of 648 (+72). Christian Chacon finished in a tie for 39th with a 155 (+11), Blake Johnston tied for 60th with a 164 (+20), Otto Klein tied for 58th with a 163 (+19), and Ian MacArhur tied for 62nd with a 166 (+22). 

In total, the Bruins shot a 300 (+24) on day two, their second straight day with an exact 300 score, to shoot a 600 (+24) overall and finish sixth. The overall winner of the PLU Invitational — with a total of 576 (E) — was Willamette. As for individually, Pacific Lutheran University's Soren Bostrom won with an overall score of 139 (-5). 

What Happens Next 
The George Fox men's golf team will play next at the Pacific Invite where they look to keep improving. The first day of the competition is on October 4.
