Box Score NEWBERG, Ore. --- The Bruins ended their 2015 football season on a high note Saturday afternoon, as they beat the Bearcats of Willamette University, 21-14.

It didn't take long for the Bruins to get in an early rhythm, as they marched down the field on their first possession to a 13-yard touchdown run by senior John Shaffer. After that first touchdown, both teams settled into a defensive battle and didn't give each other an inch. The Bruins went into the break up, 7-0.
The third quarter was a whirlwind of events, as the Bruins managed to pick-off the Bearcat's Ryan Knowlton three times. The first one came from Rudy Hughes, who gave the Bruins excellent field possession. George Fox went on to score two plays later after Grant Schroeder ran in a 22-yard touchdown. The Bruins continued to be relentless forcing another interception, as Justin Kruse batted a ball and it landed in Caleb Dalzell's hands. Again, the Bruins had great field possession, and Shaffer used his feet to give the Bruins a 21-0 advantage.
The Bearcats did manage to get on the board in the third quarter after a Bruin fumble. The Bruins went into the fourth quarter with a two-touchdown lead, but that quickly was cut, as the Bearcats scored again with 12 minutes left in the game.
The Bearcats had a chance to force an overtime, but the defensive line from the Bruins stood tough, forcing two incomplete passes and one sack for five yards.
George Fox ended the game by kneeling down in victory formation to loud ovations from the home crowd.
Top Performers:
Schroeder finished his day with 15 completions on 25 attempts and 105 yards with one rushing touchdown. Shaffer, who played in his last game for the Bruins ran for 71 yards and two touchdowns. Jesse Bresser, who also played in his last game as a Bruin, led the defense with 16 total tackles. The Bruins honored eight seniors before the game: Shaffer, Bresser, Lawrence Potts, Matt Miller, Lenana Meekisho, Mark Sanchez, Tony Long and Ryan Hess.
What It Means:
The Bruins recorded a 3-1 record at home this year with the only loss coming against the No. 2-ranked team in the nation. George Fox finishes in a tie for fifth place in conference and a 4-6 record overall. The Bruins also led the Northwest Conference in attendance for the second year in a row with 2,341 recorded attendance for their last game of the season.
