Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. --- The George Fox football team earned their first win of the season, Saturday, as the Bruins beat the Pioneers of Lewis & Clark College, 52-13.
Recap:
The scoring came early and often for the Bruins, who racked up the most points in program history. The previous record was set against the Pioneers last season in a 49-35 victory.
After trailing 6-0 after the first possesion by the Pioneers, the Bruins took their first lead after seven plays resulted in a 9-yard touchdown run by Wesley Riddell. The Bruins didn't look back after the first quarter, scoring twice in the second quarter, three times in the third and twice in the fourth.
The Bruins recorded 436 total offensive yards, while the Pioneers put up 238. The Bruins' defense held the Pioneers to just 46 yards on the ground.
Quarterback Grant Schroeder appeared to be in top form, throwing for 209 yards on 22-of-33 passes. The Bruins were able to sustain possession for the most of the game, recording 86 plays to the Pioneers 55.
The defense also got in on the action after Caleb Dalzell recorded the Bruins first pick-six of the year. Dalzell ran one back for a 20-yard score early in the third quarter.
Top Performers:
Schroeder led the team with 209 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 23 yards. Riddle led the ground game with 85 yards on 16 attempts and one score. Daniels came close to his program record of 11 receptions in a game with nine. He recorded 115 yards with an average of 12.8 per catch. Joe Mohr came in for Schroeder late in the fourth, going 2-for-2 with a touchdown. Charles Riga led the defense with eight tackles and one sack.
What It Means:
With the win, the Bruins improve to 1-3 on the season and 1-1 in the Northwest Conference.

The Bruins will host Puget Sound Saturday, Oct. 15 at 7p.m. during Family Weekend.
