NEWBERG, Ore. --- The George Fox women's basketball team hosted Augustana College Monday night, earning an easy win at home, 60-48.

Both teams came out of the gate competitive as the first quarter opened up neck-in-neck.
Tavin Headings provided much of the offense for the Bruins in the first ten minutes, shooting 3-5 from the field for seven points.
The Bruins settled into the groove of their offense before halftime, keeping pace with the Vikings before taking the lead early. After a period of back-and-forth play, George Fox went on a 9-2 run to finish the half, earning a 36-25 lead.
The offense was clicking in the second quarter as they outscored the Vikings 21-9 on the back of hot shooting from Headings and Kylin Collman, chipping in seven points apiece.
Both teams came out fighting in the third quarter, the Bruins to retain their lead and the Vikings to take it back.
George Fox was able to match the offensive pace of Augustana as they managed to keep its lead and head into the fourth quarter on top, 47-37.
Collman opened up the final period of play with the hot hand, rattling off five quick points to keep the Bruins on top.
Augustana was unable to overcome the deficit in the face of some tough Bruin defense. Defensive stalwart Kaitlin Jamieson recorded four blocks in the fourth quarter alone, keeping the Vikings at bay as the Bruins took a 68-40 win.
Top Performers:
Headings and Collman paced the Bruin offense tonight, tallying 16 and 13, respectively. Collman finished with a scorching 5-6 from the field. Jamieson played well on both ends, tallying nine points, six rebounds, three steals and a whopping seven blocks. Haylee Hutzler was a machine on the board, recording a career-high 11 rebounds. Hailey Hartney also had a career-high in rebounds with 10.
What It Means:
The Bruins move to 6-2 overall and remain an undefeated 2-0 in conference play.
What Comes Next:
The Bruins face Whittier on the road Thursday, Dec. 21, at Chapman University. Tipoff is set for 5:00pm.
