WALLA WALLA, Wash. --- The George Fox women's basketball team traveled to Walla Walla to face off with No. 7 Whitman in a battle of the Northwest Conference's top two teams. The Blues came away with a 70-53 win to complete a season sweep of George Fox and snap the Bruins six-game winning streak.

George Fox entered the contest looking to knock off the Blues and keep their chances at a regular-season NWC championship alive with a split of the season series. The Emily Spencer-Emily Holder duo, which struggled from the field in the first meeting between the two teams, entered the game averaging around 11 points each per contest and was looking to play at a high level and exact revenge on the Blues.
The Bruins struggled from the field in the first quarter as Whitman forced Spencer and Holder out of their comfort zones. George Fox mustered 10 points in the frame as the Blues took an early 19-10 lead.
George Fox rallied back and put pressure on the Blues in the second quarter, bringing the score within 32-29 Whitman at the break. Cassidy Posey and Kylin Collman led the charge for the Bruins in the second with five points each, with both nailing three-pointers to cut into the Whitman lead.
George Fox continued to rally as the third quarter got started, knotting up the score at 34 all. Unfortunately for the Bruins, Whitman responded with aggression, closing out the quarter on a 15-7 run to take a 49-41 lead. Emily Spencer dealt with foul trouble in the contest, carrying four personal fouls into the fourth quarter.
Whitman continued its run ion the beginning of the fourth quarter as the Bruins struggled to make shots, falling behind 60-46 with five minutes remaining in the game. Spencer got her fifth foul with two minutes remaining, with Whitman leading 66-51 and the Blues finished out the game to take a 70-53 win.
Top Performers
Posey led the Bruins with 12 points on 5-for-13 shooting while Holder and Collman each added 10 for George Fox. Collman and Posey were both 2-for-3 from the three-point range in the game.
What It Means
George Fox's six-game NWC winning streak comes to an end with the loss, but the Bruins still sit second in the NWC standings at 17-5 overall and 9-4 in conference play.

The Bruins will travel to Spokane to visit Whitworth tomorrow, Feb. 15 at 4:00 p.m.
