Box Score NEWBERG, Ore. --- George Fox picked up another Northwest Conference victory on Saturday, Apr. 10, with a 70-56 home win over the Linfield Wildcats.
How It Happened
George Fox blitzed the Wildcats with a 24-7 first quarter to set the tone for the game. Linfield hit the first shot of the game but then went scoreless for almost four minutes, finishing with only three makes in the opener.
The 'Cats got back into it in the second quarter with a 24-15 showing of their own as the Bruins' defenders got lost on a few closeouts, but the early George Fox lead held at the half for a 39-21 lead at the break.
A 19-12 third quarter gave the Bruins a healthy lead in the second half, and coach Michael Coppolino was able to empty his bench in the fourth quarter as the Bruins cruised to a 14-point home win over the Wildcats in regulation.
Top Performers
Mackenzie Lewis led the Bruins with 13 points, four boards, and three dimes. Rebecca Welsh added 11 points off the bench, Cassidy Posey pulled down eight boards, and Ella Roberts was a menace on the weak side with three blocks and a handful of altered shots that didn't show up on the box score.
What It Means
The Bruins have now won 27 straight over the Wildcats and improve to 5-2 this season, both overall and in conference. The Wildcats drop to 1-6 overall and in NWC matchups.
