NEWBERG, Ore. -- After six Bruins spent a weekend in Washington, a fuller George Fox track and field squad took several first-place finishes in their second home indoor meet.
Top Performances
Brecken VandenHoek,
Elisabeth Jensen, and Jenna Huntsman showed out in the 60-meter hurdles, sweeping the podium in that order. VandenHoek won with a time of 9.47 seconds, just 0.3 seconds off of the record books.
Tayler Phillips glided his way into second place for the men's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.72, while Bryon Morris notched a second-place finish in the 60-meter dash, with a time of 7.06 seconds. Both of those marks placed the Bruins on the all-time records list.
The Bruins women's pole vault excelled once again, taking spots 1-7 with the top three going to
Alison Young,
Grace Tully, and
Payton Davidson. Young jumped 12-02.00 feet on her way to the first-place finish.
Levi Gibson, Zeke Sikkema, and
Mauhia Kimata also swept the podium in the men's pole vault, with Gibson jumping 14-08.75- feet
Ellena Corwin and
Kailee Walker went 1-2 in the shot put with throws of 41-04.25 feet and 38-04.75 feet each, while
Scott McBride placed third with a throw of 44-05.50 feet. McBride's throw was good enough for fourth in program history.
VandenHoek took the long jump with a mark of 17-04.25, placing first.
Victoria Azar,
Whitney Waddell, and Elizabeth Jensen rounded out a Bruin 1-2-3-4 finish.
Ethan Kassebaum kept the Bruins winning with his mark of 23-00.75 in the men's long jump.
Madelyn O'Hare and Marina Carol finished out the events for the women with each posting a 5-00.50 in the high jump. On the men's side, Phillips jumped 6-02.75 feet with Tiger Brunk,
Max Ashour, and Nicolas Hurst not far behind.
