NEWBERG, Ore. -- George Fox Track and Field hosted its first of two indoor track meets, with James King and
Andrew Quach setting indoor program records to begin the year.
Top Performances
Goerge Fox took first through sixth place in the women's pole vault, with
Alison Young in first,
Grace Tully in second,
Payton Davidson in third,
Shelby Larson in fourth, Anna Wilson in fifth, and
Valerie Bruggeman in sixth.
Levi Gibson came in first for the men's pole vault, jumping 4.60 meters en route to the top finish.
James King jumped 2.10 meters in the men's high jump and came in first for the event, breaking the former record for GFU Indoor, beating a prior record held by Tim Hagan in 1990. Behind King, Tiger Brunk came in third with a jump of 1.82 meters.
Andrew Quach won the final event of the day with a mark of 7.33 in the men's long jump, setting a new men's indoor record.
Marina Carrol, Elisabeth Jenson,
Brecken VandenHoek, and
Madeleine O'Hare all tied for runner-up in the women's high jump with jumps of 1.52 meters.
Ellena Corwin kept the Bruin success coming by winning the women's shot put with a throw of 12.26 meters.
In the track events,
Brecken VandenHoek was the top finisher in the women's 60m hurdles, while
Elisabeth Jensen and Jenna Huntsman also qualified for the finals.
John Ojukwu and Sophia Olson qualified for the 60m finals, placing seventh and ninth.
Coach's Thoughts
"We had a great start to our 2033 indoor season with some nice early season performances and a chance to just compete," Bruin head track and field coach
John Smith said, "It is also always exciting to see our new freshman class in the Bruins uniform."
What Comes Next
The Bruins travel to Seattle, Wash. on Feb. 10 to participate in the University of Washington Husky Classic.
