NEWBERG, Ore. -- George Fox track and field hosted their first and final home meet of the season, competing in the Rich Allen Classic, and taking podium spots in the majority of events they competed in.
Top Performances
In the men's 100-meter,
John Ojukwu ran a blistering 11.23, taking first place, and
Cameron Seymour ran an 11.30 to take third.
Elisabeth Jensen,
Jennifer Huntsman, and
Ayahna Bahati went 1-2-3 in the women's 110-meter hurdles.
Dieumerci Migani glided into first in the men's 200-meter with a time of 22.65; Ojukwu took third. Freshman
Sophia Olson came in third in the women's 200-meter with a time of 27.24.
Fox swept the podium in the women's 400, as
Ellie Rising took first,
Elizabeth Warren finished in second, and
Kylie Bean all finished within less than a second of each other.
In the 400-meter hurdles,
Connor Hatch finished a neck-and-neck race in second after being shoulder-to-shoulder with the leader coming to the final hurdle.
Patrick Adkisson finished in third, less than a second behind Hatch.
Dillon Rising ran to second in the men's 800-meter with a 1:57.49, and right behind him was Adkisson who finished with a 1:57.74. Breanna Schmitt dominated the women's 800-meter, running a 2:25.20 en route to a first-place finish.
Brenna Sclair,
Hannah Tranby, and
Jessie Bailey secured another swept podium for Fox in the women's 1500 meter. In the men's 3000-meter,
Austin Gappa and
Gavin Grass went 1-2.
Kayla Aalpoel ran an 18:03 5000-meter in the women's 5K, taking first place in the event. Fellow Bruin
Sarah Pullen finished second with an 18:16. Fox went 1-2-3-4-5 in the men's 5K, as
Adam Petersen led the way in the pack of five. He was followed by
Peter Weiss,
Alex Mills,
Grant Ferguson, and
Caden Hildenbrand.
In the women's 10,000-meter race,
Ryin Streeter and
Mia Carroll finished first and second respectively.
The women's discus saw
Tahnisha Manibusan throw 116-10 feet, taking second. Addie Wengener threw 115 feet to come in third.
Hunter Gonzales took second in the men's discus with a throw of 123-01 feet, and
Austin Imsland threw 117-02 to take third.
In the men's hammer throw
Ben Meade took first with a throw of 170 feet.
Nathaniel Koenig threw 145-07 feet finishing in third.
Tahnisha Manibusan took first in the women's hammer throw to give Fox the top spot in the men's and women's hammer.
James King and
Tiger Brunk went first and second in the men's high jump.
Christine Strickland tossed her way to first in the women's javelin throw — throwing a PR of 151-00, good for fifth in program history. Strickland was followed by teammate
Ellie Corwin in third.
Victoria Azar and
Whitney Waddell finished in second and third place respectively in the women's long jump. In the men's long jump,
Dieumerci Migani jumped 23-03.25, giving him not only first place but eighth all-time.
Levi Gibson and
Mauhia Kimata launched themselves to first and second place in the men's pole vault, with Gibson's mark of 15-07.00 feet placing him in the top 10 all-time.
For the women's pole vault,
Grace Tully also earned a spot on the Fox record books with a vault of 11-11.75, and
Alison Young was close behind in second.
Ellie Corwin won the women's shot put, throwing 39-00.50 feet en route to first place.
Ethan Kassebaum finished first in the men's triple jump with a performance of 46-00.75 that placed him in the Bruin record books, while
Jay Brunk took third. In the women's triple jump,
Isabella Dean and
Victoria Azar finished in second and third place.
Coach's Thoughts
"It was a really fun day for the GFU track team," Bruin head coach
John Smith said, "Any time the sun comes out, you start to expect some big PRs, and the athletes didn't disappoint. We will build off this momentum as we head down to California next week, it should be a great week of training and competition."

George Fox takes a group of athletes to the Jim Klein Combined Events in Santa Barbara next week, with the first day of events coming on Thursday, March 23.
